Echo and Noise reduction
When using our computer's mic and speaker, based on the surrounding environment that we are in and the connectivity strength of the internet, an echo may surface.
There may not be much to do for the connectivity problem, but we can mitigate the occurrence of echos which are caused by the surrounding environment.
Below are some tips to do so
- When joining a meeting, join with your mic muted.
- This helps in reducing the occurrence of echo if there is any other device with an un-muted mic in your surrounding. You can un-mute it after joining when you want to speak.
- Lower your speaker's volume as much as possible before you join a meeting and slowly turn it up to your preference
- In case it echos, the lower volume will help in reducing the noise created by the echo.
- Prefer to use headphone for meetings
- When you are making video meetings, if you are not using a zoom room apparatus, it is advised to use headphones. This will help if you are either the listener or the speaker as it makes the sound clear and very audible.
- Choose an appropriate place to make your meetings.
- Use conference rooms if free or any other room in your office where a fair amount of silence could be attained.
