Navigating the different user windows

When you use Zoom there are a few different user windows you will experience, outlined below. Sometimes these different windows can cause confusion when in a call. These confusing scenarios are also outlined below to help you with your initial Zoom meeting navigation.

Desktop Application:

The below image is of the Zoom desktop application. In this window there are a lot of options including additional chat features and the ability to see upcoming meetings. In most cases this window is used to:

  • Create a new meeting

  • Schedule a meeting

  • Join a meeting

All of these topics are covered in other sections of this Zoom training. 

Zoom Meeting Window:

Once you start or join a call you will see the below window. Most of the features in this window are covered in other sections of this training But below we will go over minimizing this window and re-accessing it.


If you minimize the window the larger meeting window will create a ‘small’ window on your desktop to re-open this larger window….

  1. Navigate to the ‘small’ window on your desktop and hover over it with your mouse. Below is an image with the ‘small’ window on desktop

2. Click the symbol in the image below to ‘Exit Minimized Video

If you want to enter or exit full screen mode….

   In the top right corner of your meeting window click the ‘Enter Full Screen’ or ‘Exit Full Screen’ button
